Zomtober 2017 Week One

Well, here we go folks with the very first of my humble offerings. Despite two days "on the road" playing at the Brean Sands C&W festival on Thursday, then down in Bournemouth on Friday, I've just managed to finish these guys - I'd  primed 'em before we left, but I'll need to put a second coat of grey on the base edges now I've seen the photo!
This is a trio of "Random Zombies" from  Heresy Miniatures
These are great value-for-money mini's at just a pound apiece and I suppose the buying experience is akin to grabbing the sealed 'boosters' for collectable games, since you don't know just what you'll get until they arrive!
Oh, and just to correct my previous post, before the base coat went on, I thought the guy on the left would be OK as a 17th Century zed, but once I could see the detail more clearly, all three are destined to join the ranks of the zombpoc horde.

Having to assemble the Mantic and Warlord plastic mini's is time consuming, so I'll be cracking on with painting the Black Plague zombies  and white metal witchfinders this week in between gluing sessions.

Short and sweet, cos I'm tired (but happy) now!
I hope everyone else has managed to get off to a good start to the month, and I hope to catch up with posts at some point later today once I've got the allocated "chores" out of the way!

    1. Cheers Andy, thought I'd better put a bit more effort in than my usual splash'n'dash technique ;-)
I think you have more pressing things to remember than posting links at the moment buddy!

  3. A fine trio to get your Zomtober tally started, Wargame Addict. I especially like the green dress as ordinarily such a colour clashes with the zed's skin imho - but not in this case. She looks terrific - for a brain-eating cadaver that is!! :-)

    1. Thanks Simon - as the horde has grown, I've found myself repeating certain colours that DO work, and they're becoming repetative. Breaking out and going with the green thankfully paid off :-)

As the "Zombie Meister", I'm not surprised to hear you have them in your collection ;-)

    1. Cheers Roy - it's good old "Army Painter: Zombie Skin" over a "Uniform Grey" base coat, topped off with "Strong Tone" wash.

I've been looking forward to joining in "the challenge" for so long, and it's a real pleasure to finally be taking part!

  7. Looking good. I like the idea of single piece random zombies (I've lost patience with many a plastic kit), and so I need to go and have a nosey at Heresy.

    1. I think we're both in the same boat Kieron ;-)
My horde grew too the 100 milestone with all but one of 'em plastic!
Definitely white metal zeds from now on, and "goodbye" to the fiddly multi-part kits!!

  8. Off to an excellent start fella. I keep meaning to pick some of Heresy miniatures zombies. Will have to add them to my list as they seem decent figures.

  9. Many thanks Simon - TBH looking at some of the amazing brush work on display among the other guy's posts, they're definitely "gaming standard" :-)
I only bought the 'Random Zombies' to round-up an order I placed with Heresy some time ago. I'm glad I did, and will certainly be getting some more.
