Apologies if the mini's look a bit shiny in the photo's, but I'm using a 'daylight' bulb in a desk lamp. Not the ideal solution to the lack of sunlight, but better than having everything look orange under the normal house lights.
Here we go then and keeping to my promise of painting at least one zombpoc zed per week, here's the latest additions to the All Things Zombie "horde" - two more from the Warlord 'Male Zombies" sprue.
I say, "The peasants are revolting" - Five Zombicide Black Plague mini's.
Sufferers of "the plague" at the remote village of Aium in the Peak District.
The Bubonic plague hit Eyam (old English name Aium) in 1665. I've played a little fast'n'loose with dates and pushed the this back about a quarter of a century to tie-in with my English Civil War / Fear and Faith campaign, where it's not the Bubonic plague at all!
Setting off to investigate this mysterious "plague" are our intrepid investigators.
Warlord Games "Stickler Mitchell and his assistant Megan" produced for the Witchfinder General rules.
The numbers are down a little this week due to other commitments, hopefully there'll be a bumper crop next week!

Brill triple-feature this week, Wargame Addict, with lots to coo over. I especially like the Witchfinder and his apprentice - they could also be good for a black powder version of "Frostgrave" I'd have thought?
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon - I've never looked at Frostgrave, YET (other than all the eye candy that appears on the web). Once the current projects are well under way I might take a peek ;-)
DeleteA terrific set of figures covering multiple periods. I was thinking that the two Witch-finder figures would make for good heroes in Zombicide:Black Plague.
ReplyDeleteCheers Bryan - these five Black Plague mini's are all I've got (from evilbay) from the game. I got the Zombicide rules as a free download from Guillotine Games, and will probably do the same with Black Plague just for a look now you've mentioned it :-)
DeleteNot only do you produce great figures, I love your backdrops too :-)
ReplyDeleteI dunno about "great figures" Andy, I've tried upping my game for the challenge, but still think the report would read "Could do better" ;-)
DeleteThey're intended for the wargame table, so that's where I like to pose 'em for their photo's...... but you've given me an idea!!!
Knowing the area quite well, I can safely say that those zombies can easily go undetected in the villages around there for some time... ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a daylight bulb, that might go some way towards solving my woes with light too.
Nice work.
LOL! I'm setting the campaign on "home turf" and needed a remote location for the supernatural shenanigans - sounds like I picked the perfect place ;-)
DeleteI use a daylight bulb on the painting table as well Kieron, I can't remember where I got the idea, but I definitely wouldn't go back to "white light" now.
Cracking Zomtober post very productive this week and love the pics!
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly Simon.
DeleteThe "cruel close ups" show my shortcomings ;-)
Excellent work yet again Wargame Addict. :)
ReplyDeletePotentially no unpainted Zombies?!? That sounds sacrilegious! :)
I'd call it a crime against the zombie gaming community ;-)
ReplyDeleteI shall HAVE to remedy the situation post haste!
Great stuff! Geez, I wish I could say I had no unpainted figures in the house, that's a phrase I can't ever see me saying! That's brilliant congrats!
ReplyDeleteDon't panic Ivor - it's only the zombies that I've cleared, and that was mainly down to a "big push" earlier in the year to get the 100 strong horde.
DeleteJust like everyone else, I've still got the lead/plastic/resin mountain...... in fact there's stuff I just know will NEVER get painted, so I reckon it's time for a prune of the 'abandoned projects'
Great looking zeds, especially the modern ones!
ReplyDeleteThe witchfinder pair look ripe for using with pirates too with their flintlock pstols (not sure they were used in the ECW)
Thanks Joe, glad you like 'em :-)
DeleteFlintlocks (commonly known as firelocks during the period) were certainly used during the civil war, but were less common than matchlocks.
Here's just one example - http://www.militaryheritage.com/pistol5.htm
A little bit of everything here. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteCheers Fred, the Zomtober challenge has been just the spur to get the stalled 17thC project rolling again - I might be able to have the first skirmish for Halloween :-)
