Zomtober 2017 Week Four

Well folks, the penultimate post for this years challenge and unfortunately, the encounter I played this week ate up more time than I planned and  I didn't manage to hit the painting target - here's this weeks offerings and these the are the last of the Warlord male zombie sprue!

Next up, here's the remaining eight Mantic zeds painted up as "Nocterlinger" for my 17th century campaign. I've followed the trend of other gamers playing "Witchfinder General" and given them a grey skin tone, though I've gone for zombies as well as ghouls to represent these foul creatures in my own campaign setting.

I've managed to cobble together enough body parts from a "Vixens" sprue to assemble a couple of female zombpoc zeds for next weeks finale, which are the very last of my unpainted zombies!

  1. Great posting Wargame Addict, with the "Warlord Games" zombies proving especially eye-catching imho; probably due to the different coloured clothing and excellent-looking background. You've almost finished clearing out your undead zed pile too, eh? Top work :-)

    1. Praise indeed - thanks Simon :-)
Yep, I can't see me getting any new zombies this week, so next Sunday will see my mini pile a "zed free zone". That won't last though cos I'm still aiming for the gross!

  2. They all look good to me, Greg. It is always nice to see a zombie horde growing.

    1. Thanks Bryan, it's been a refreshing change from my usual "splash'n'dash" method of churning out zeds and the challenge month has really helped motivation :-)

I am impressed and envious of the quality and quantity of your outputs. :)

  4. Great initial trio of zeds and another bonus batch of ghouls/zeds (imo usable as both).
If you clear all your zeds ffrom your paint-pile you definetly deserve a pat on the back !
(I thought I'd cleared all my zeds too, but recently found somewhere in the region of another 70 zeds that I'd completely forgotten about!)

    1. Cheers Joe, but I'm going to have to get some more zeds in - once they're done I'll have a "pint in a pot" to celebrate, never mind the pat on the back ;-)
Strewth! You must have one heck of a pile if you "found" 70 in there!! :-)

    2. I bought the then deal of all the Cold War mini back - about 14 packs each with 5 minis in. I noticed recently though that they may have changed/updated some of their packs - they're are great range imo btw.
(I'd put them in a file box and subsequently forgot aboutthem as I painted the other several hundreds that I'd bought at the same time!)

  5. You may have missed your target, but that's still a pretty impressive output for the week. Well done!

    1. Thanks Kieron. To be honest, it's been one of those weeks that I probably wouldn't have lifted a brush - just shows the power of the "challenge" event :-)

  6. Wow! Those are absolutely brilliant! The subtle hint of teeth and your skin tones on the faces on the two on the ends are just perfect :)

    1. You're too kind Ivor - the skin tone is just Army Painter "Zombbicide Zombie Skin" over a black primer. I deliberately DON'T shake the bottle, so it's like a heavy/strong wash. I just wish they did a "grey" zombie skin alternative!

  7. More zombie goodies and a nearly zombie free painting queue - lovely,

  8. Run out of zombies? Isn't that basically a crime?
    Great job though.

  9. "Guilty as charged your honour"
In my defence I can only plead that I have just enough to see me through Zomtober ;-)

  10. Excellent output & brushwork! Cool that your playing Witch finder General, I bought the rules, but that's as far as that has gotten.

    1. Thanks for the kind comment Terry.
As for WFG, I just couldn't resist getting a copy of the rules myself (along with "Fear & Faith") and I'm just getting 'stuck in' to the mini's for that style of game AND some 'straight' English Civil War.
I've just seen your 2mm TYW stuff and am mightily impressed! :-)
