Ladies Day

As promised, I've battled on through my bout of man flu (oh, how we suffer for our hobby eh?), and painted up some of the "ladies" from the WfG paint queue.
Here's the Vampire Countess, a Black Cat Bases mini, and the 'Lady Of Fernbeck House' alongside the Count (now known as the "Earl" of course)

This pair of witches (and their cauldron) are from Rapier Miniatures, I won't make any comment about the contents of the cauldron and the colour of the "cold run" from my nose!!!! (Oops, I just did!)

The Romany girls (camp followers who accompanied the count's bodyguard from Transylvania) are the Gypsy Girls from Col. Bill's I've mimicked Roy's colour scheme, but omitted the patterns - purely because plain material is more appropriate for the 17thC (Actually more to do with my lack of talent with the brush!!)

Short and sweet post, and before I go apologies are due to anyone who hasn't had any comments from me on their recent posts - I've tried to keep up-to-date with the goings on, but my nurse can be very strict at times!
Once again, thanks for dropping by and your comments and queries are most welcome.
Yes dear 'sniff',    no dear 'cough',   I've just put the kettle on for another Lemsip.........

  1. I really like that Black Cat Bases Countess. A decent sculpt that has painted up well. I really must buy some of their miniatures - no idea what for - but they do have some nice sculpts.

I really like the idea of the Roma girls accompanying the Noble Vampyre couple and wouldn't mind copying the idea myself. Ah, too many ideas and not enough time, nor uses for them.

    1. "Ah, too many ideas and not enough time" - sounds like 'The Wargamers Lament' Roy ;-)
As well has having a fine range of excellent mini's, the time it took for my initial order to arrive was obviously a glitch in the matrix - the follow-up order arrived in good time, so they're highly recommended :-)

  2. Well let's hear it for the Girls! Cracking post Sir, but sorry to hear that you have not been feeling very well. Quick question, is that a homemade cemetery in picture two? It is rather smart and something that I have been considering recently.

    1. Thanks Michael :-)
That cemetery is one of the VERY old games Workshop terrain offerings. They're one-piece castings made from a very dense foam, and I'm lucky to still have this and the "ruined wizards tower" in my collection - both have spent several years outside in the garden as railway scenery (which speaks volumes for their durability!), during my 'non-gaming' period.

    2. Thank you for the info, it has certainly stood the test of time well.

    3. ..... and acquired its own patina ;-)
Though I think it deserves a re-paint when I get the chance! (Possibly when I get around to painting the "Garden Of Morr", which I thing will also be useful for WfG) :-)

  3. I do like all of the figures shown here, but for obvious reasons my favourite has to be the vampire Countess. Does she have a name yet?

I do hope you have recovered from your man flu. It is never a pleasant experience.

    1. I thought that just MIGHT be the case Bryan ;-)
The two vampyre (yes, I'm stealing Roy's spelling) characters are yet to be named and I'll be using the excellent 'name generator' you recently flagged up for the task :-)
Still on the road to recovery - the process gets longer as we get older (but at least the prescriptions are free!)

    2. "Mikhail Lichtenfels" & "Milyena Wittenstein" :-)
....and "Jenya Ohlendorf" (an Alternative Armies mini currently under the brush ;-)

    3. Excellent names, Greg. I am delighted that you found the Fantasy Names generator website such a useful resource. :-)

    4. As with all my best ideas, I borrowed the Vampyre spelling variation (GW fantasy novels by Kim Newman, the Genevieve Dieudonne vampire femme fatale character, iirc). Though it could also be used by GW with their Lahmia (female) Vampire characters.

  4. Great collection of Gals. Really like the Vampire Countess mini but I also quite like the dancing gypsy girls as well. Top job dude.

    1. Cheers Simon. Very much a case of "last in, first out" for the Roma trio - they're the latest mini's to get painted, but will feature in the intro to the first game :-)

  5. I'm amazed that you've managed so much, I was completely bed-ridden with the flu thing, so congratulations - love the Countess!

    1. Many thanks Joe, but six (OK seven including the cauldron) mini's between posts feels like a snails pace compared to a)recent output, and b)the number of mini's I NEED to paint for the games I want to play ;-(
Only the Countess is a 'character/star' (so she has eyes), the rest are 'rank & file/extras' (so totally speed painted and facial features only highlighted with the final wash).
The last couple of days have seen me taking to my bed for an afternoon snooze, which does seem to be helping the medication. From one sufferer to another, "Get Well Soon Buddy"!

    2. Thanks WA, other than a slight sniffle I'm almost at 100% and ready to load up a new painting tray!
Ialready do the afternnon snooze thing (whether ill or not) - its an age thing!
Hope you get better soon, somuch to doand so little time!

  6. Impressive color of the soup (is this a soup?) and impressive colors on these figures, splendid!

    1. I suppose you COULD call it "soup" Phil, even with the hand reaching out to clutch the side of the bowl from the inside!! ;-)
As a talking point, the contents of the cauldron were painted with:~ Citadel Colour 'Stinging Scorpion Green', dry-brushed Citadel Colour 'Goblin Green' and then given a wash with Citadel Colour 'Green' ink (in the little 10ml dropper bottle).
This gives a little insight into just how OLD some of my collection of paints are ;-)

  7. Love the witches and their little cauldron. It makes my imagination run as to what they are cooking up.

    1. Thanks for your compliments on my humble offerings PC, none of 'em are "works of art" (I wish I had the skill), but they'll do just fine for the gaming table :-)
