Zomtober 2017 Week Five

The end of this year's challenge, and I've enjoyed every bit of it!
A massive thank you is in order to all those who have taken part (survived?) and posted their inspiring work.

Since there's been no blog entry since last week, you might have already guessed that it's been 'hectic' here at TWA towers (especially with having to get the van through the dreaded MOT!), and ALL of my hobby output has been aimed at this week's offering, so here we go........

"The little girl with a big gun"
The last two Warlord Games Vixens and the female survivor I've been putting off doing awaiting a 'round tuit'.
I decided to give her a pink frock and bow to try and emphasise her "young innocence" in contrast to the boots and handgun.
Because these are the only three mini's for All Things Zombie this week, I couldn't resist the idea of setting up a little cameo for the photo's - a claustrophobic encounter in the corridor of a ruined building - will she survive?

Continuing painting mini's for the "Witchfinder General / Fear & Faith" campaign (and technically still a work in progress until it's had a coat of matt varnish), this is the "Hag" mini from the D&D Ravenloft game.
Destined to be a powerful 'Zombie Witch' in my 17thC campaign, she qualifies for the Zomtober Challenge AND imparts a bit of Halloween flavour for the time of the month!

Now, speaking of Halloween,  here's the bonus photo.......
"Evil lurks amongst us"
Innocent villagers going about their day-to-day lives, unaware of the presence of witches and fell creatures in their midst!
The buildings are resin cast from Hovels (and have taken ages to paint - and still need weathering), villagers from Col Bill's, witches are from Rapier Miniatures, and a pair of ghouls form a Mantic sprue and the other (larger)  mini from the D&D Ravenloft boardgame. Can you spot them ;-)

So, that's it then. I'm going to be away all weekend gigging at Halloween parties up in Harrogate and down in Gravesend - how cool is that?! a Halloween party in GRAVES end?!! (and yes, I'll be dressing up as a zombie!), so I'll be playing catch-up on everyone's posts on Monday.
Thanks to everybody that's visited the blog during Zomtober, and a special thanks for your kind comments.
I leave you with a taster of things to come....
"Shepherds Pies Bakewell Tart" (geddit??)

    1. Thanks Joe - she's a Reaper Bones Townsfolk: Strumpet. 77159
I should have mentioned that there's a Reaper Bones "woman with children" in the photo above it as well. I think she's designed for dark age / early medieval but seems to fit in OK with the renaissance crowd ;-)

  2. Wonderful conclusion to a great Zomtober effort, Wargame Addict. I've loved every one of your postings for this challenge, and this one is a nice festive ending :-)

    1. Many thanks Simon. It's been a "long month" but now we're at the end it seems to have flown by!
Just a case of harnessing some of the momentum from the challenge and carrying it forward now ;-)

  3. Loads of terrific eye candy here, Greg. In the vignette with the little girl I reckon she'll get knocked flat on her back by the recoil of the gun when she fires and misses with it. Then the two zombie Vixens will rip her to shreds. Ah, a happy ending! ;-)

I hope you have your photo taken when you get dressed up for Halloween - my favourite night of the year!

    1. Cheers Bryan :-)
One of the female zombies is missing a hand, so it can't "grab" as effectively as it should - hopefully that might just give her a chance to escape?
All the gear is loaded in the van, including the liquid latex ;-) If I get a decent photo I'll change my profile pic!
Halloween is of course the pagan 'New Year' so it must be time for some resolutions ;-)

  5. Great work as ever Greg! I love the little vignettes - excellent.

You sure put in the mileage don’t you? What kind of gigging do you do?

We certainly spend a lot of time in the van! I'd forgotten about tonight's gig up in Bradford, hence the late reply, and it's the same as my ATZ character "Brad" - Country Music :-)

    1. Thanks Fred, definitely been busy, and cleared a lot of my paint queue, which I'd agree is "good work" ;-)

  7. Excellent job this week. I am sure she will destroy those zombies with that hand cannon.

The witch looks cracking as well and very fitting.

    1. Thank you Simon - and thanks for running this years challenge.
I reckon I'll have to play out the encounter as a "mini game" and post the result ;-)

    1. Thanks for the compliments Terry, though I'm not too sure about the "excellent brushwork" bit - I'm a firm believer in the old quote 'quantity has a quality all of it's own' ;-)

  11. I'm with Bryan on this (though without the same amount of glee :-) !): I think the little girl will end up flat on her back after firing the gun. Even if it destroys the first zombie (which it might well), a single bullet isn't likely to hit both of the attackers.

Nice to see some halloween-themed figures as well :-) .

    1. Don't let her fragile looks deceive you, her folks had her busting empty soda bottles with a .22 caliber pistol not long after she'd learned to walk! - or did I just make that bit up?? ;-)
      Happy Halloween Hugh! :-)

  13. Fabulous post and a fabulous blog too - not sure how I have missed it?! Love the fearsome, gun totting toddler! I'm also quite keen to hear more about your Witchfinder campaign as this was a rules set I dabble with a while ago and have a hankering to get back to.

    1. Thank you very much Michael :-)
I grabbed the WfG rules as soon as I found out about them, and they've been awaiting the 'round tuit' arriving for some time ;-)
Since then, I've been quite taken by the Ganesha Games rules engine, so it's going to be a head-to-head playthrough to see which I'll be using.
I've just been over and had a read-through of your own WfG posts - excellent stuff, and exactly the sort of thing I'm aiming for!
